Aiken, U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business & Entrepreneurship Comes to New Orleans Region (New Orleans) The U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship and U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu, Chair, present the 2009 Small Business Outreach Conference, Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at the Lindy C. Boggs International Conference Center in New Orleans. Small business owners and entrepreneurs looking to utilize federal and state small business assistance programs can find answers in one place. Onsite registration begins at 8 a.m. with the program starting at 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Senator Landrieu and Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration, Karen G. Mills, will open the event. Officials from the Small Business Administration (SBA), Louisiana Economic Development (LED), and Louisiana Small Business Development Center network (LSBDC) will join Senator Landrieu’s staff, which includes Mr. Donald Cravins, Jr., Staff Director & Chief Legal Counsel of the committee, to discuss top concerns for small business owners and entrepreneurs. The Committee previously held the Small Business Outreach Conference in Lafayette, Lake Charles, Shreveport, and Baton Rouge Louisiana. “We received very positive feedback from entrepreneurs throughout the state who have attended recent Small Business Outreach Conferences,” Sen. Landrieu said. “These events have helped Louisianians learn how to get SBA-backed loans, secure federal contracts and create new jobs for Louisiana’s workers. I look forward to another successful outreach conference in the New Orleans region to help our local small business owners add new jobs for the state and help get our economy back on track.” The details for the Small Business Outreach Conference are as follows: Tuesday, June 30, 2009- New Orleans Lindy C. Boggs International Conference Center University of New Orleans Research and Technology Park 2045 Lakeshore Drive, New Orleans, LA 70122 Onsite registration starts at 8 a.m.; Program begins 9 a.m.- 11:45 a.m. The SBA, LED, and LSBDC will provide brief overviews of their programs including: * SBA lending programs * SBA government contracting programs * LED Small and Emerging Business Development Program, which provides resources and services to existing businesses * LED Bonding Assistance Program, which assists small businesses in getting bonded * The Hudson Initiative, which assists businesses in selling to the State * State and federal tax incentive programs * LSBDC small business assistance programs SBA, LED, and the LSBDC representatives will also be on hand to answer individual questions during a breakout session. Refreshments will be provided by Adams and Reese LLP.
