Violet has been in the hospitality industry since 1990, starting her career at Hotard Coaches. In 1996 she began selling Jefferson Parish in hotel sales. Violet was on the inaugural board of directors of the Jefferson Convention & Visitors Bureau, Inc. (JCVB) and in November of 2002, she became the President & CEO. In 2016, Violet earned the designation of Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME).
In her tenure, the JCVB has been successful in securing a permanent funding source and nearly doubled the bureau’s operating budget through the establishment of the Tourism Support Assessment. She led the bureau to attain international accreditation through the Destination Marketing Accreditation Program of Destinations International. Violet has led the process of enhancing the destination landscape by implementing initiatives such as the Louisiana Oyster Trail, Family Gras and Fish Jefferson while partnering with the Jefferson Parish Council to execute Carnival’s Rhythm on the Route. Since 2007, over $3.9 million in grants have been obtained to grow Jefferson Parish tourism including the Community Development Block Grant following Hurricane Katrina, Louisiana Tourism Recovery, Gulf Tourism Seafood Promotion Fund grants following the BP oil spill and the Tourism Revival Grant following the pandemic.
In addition to the JCVB’s main focus of Marketing and Promotions, Violet prioritizes media relations, and the destination has been featured in national publications and through Social Media influencers.
Violet serves as a board member of Louisiana Travel Association, and the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation. She is a member of US Travel Association, Louisiana Business & Industry Association, New Orleans & Company, Southeast Tourism Society, Destinations International and the Greater New Orleans Hotel & Lodging Association.
