More about our Speaker Ashley P. Labat
Mr. Labat is a retired Federal Agent for the Treasury Department with over 34 years of experience. After graduating from UNO with a BS in Accounting, he started his career in Public Accounting working for a local CPA firm and later at Ochsner as its Senior Accountant. While working at the Treasury Department, Mr. Labat feels his most rewarding time was his last 22 years there as a Money Laundering Agent. During that time, he audited, worked with, and met many interesting individuals, many of whom you would know or have heard of. He was initially a Lead Instructor and traveled the country training new agents for over 6 years. He co-authored and developed the two-week training course, the BSA or Bank Secrecy Act which is the still the training manual used today by all new Money Laundering Agents. Mr. Labat is a Subject Matter Expert and worked closely with the US Attorney’s Office and various other Federal and state Agencies in the area, state, and around the country. Other duties included On-the-Job instructor, BSA Program Coordinator for LA, MS, & AL, liaison with various Federal & State Agencies, and Special Task Force member. Mr. Labat has also served on several Board of Directors and has held the position of officer for various organizations, businesses, clubs, and associations.
