Message from the President

Just in case you haven’t figured it out yet, let me make this perfectly clear…I am having a blast being the 54th President of the East Jefferson Business Association. It is my privilege and honor to serve, and I’m trying to make the most of my “15 Minutes of Fame”. It’s really hard to believe that I am halfway thru my term, but it is true, June 30th will be here before we know it. On July 1, your 1st Vice President Chuck Mutz will assume this office, to which you previously elected him, and become your 55th President. Unlike what happens elsewhere, WE do believe in a smooth transition of power! The EJBA By-Laws were set up this way so that our Organization can continually thrive and prosper with new Leadership. With new Leadership comes new energy and new ideas, and that’s always a good thing. I will step aside and become the immediate Past President which is more of an advisory role, and will serve on the Board in that capacity. YOU also can have an opportunity to serve as a Board Member, and soon we will be taking nominations to serve on the 2017-18 Board. Phyliss Jacques, your current immediate Past President, will be handling this. BUT please know, you don’t have to be an Officer, or Board member, to serve the EJBA well. As an active Member, you can commit to attending as many of our functions as possible, and helping to promote our Organization thru your Business Contacts, Social Media, and the EJBA Web Page. We have a new feature on our Web Site that we hope everyone will take advantage of. YOUR Company’s functions and special events can be listed and promoted on our Calendar of Events at no charge. Our Calendar is going to be interactive, so that you can click on an event, such as the upcoming Bingo Fundraiser on Mar 28th to get more info, make a reservation, and even buy tickets. So if you have such a function that would be of interest and benefit to your fellow members, please contact Dee Clubb with that information.

This is the first of what I will hope are many Blog Posts, but I have to go now as the Secret Service is telling me that Air Force One is fully fueled and ready to Fly!

Gratefully, Steve Barnett
Your 2016-17 EJBA President
