Karla Kilgore, Barrel Wine Bar

Raised in Metairie, Karla Kilgore was drawn to the wine industry after moving to San Francisco in the 1990’s working in nationally renowned restaurants, Stars with Jeremiah Towers and Aqua under both George Marone and Michael Mina.  Upon moving to Honolulu Hi for 3 years opening two restaurants as front house manager and running the wine programs, Karla met and became friends with Rebecca Foulk, (who has a broad and deep knowledge of wine, and moved to Covington to join the adventure of Barrel Wine.)  Returning to San Francisco for another three year stint, Karla initially went back to Aqua as a manager before obtaining her certificate as a Sommelier and opening two more restaurants, while taking on private clients managing home wine cellars Finally before coming back full circle to SE Louisiana,  a move to Seattle allowed for the opportunity to work closer to the winemaking process and represented European families with average of 300 year of winemaking.

 

Now in Covington at Barrel Wine, offering monthly Guest Chef Wine Dinners, First Sunday Brunch and Fried Chicken Dinner nights, we share over 60 wines by the glass, weekly themed wine flights and daily Happy Hour to enjoy the adventure of exploring the vast world of wine.
